Elliot & Gina's story

"Since a young age I was fascinated by foreign cultures and how people lived in other countries, what they were like, what kind of food they ate and what books they read. I was curious about their heritage, customs and languages.

When I was eight I started learning Russian at school and my Mum signed me up for private English lessons. Later in high school I studied French and I learnt Arabic and Hebrew at University. Learning foreign languages had transformed my life: I studied in Paris where I spent a lot of time sipping cappuccinos and learning about the Arab poetry and philosophy from medieval manuscripts. I traded in vintage posters and fine art prints by some of the world's most famous artists including Toulouse-Lautrec, Villemot, Mucha, Cappiello and Cassandre and read books by Patrick Modiano long before he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2014. Later, I forged a career in media production and international licensing. These experiences have transformed and enriched my life. I have met many amazing people and visited many amazing places on this journey.

One thing has always struck me. If I didn't speak English, my life would not be what it is. I would have never experienced the world in the same amazing way. I would have never met the love of my life. This realisation inspired me to put together a team of amazing professionals who are top specialists in teaching English and writing materials for learning English and our series with fun storybooks based on new original characters Elliot & Gina was born.

Today we are proud to work with aspiring artists and nurture their talent to produce inspiring materials that are sound in their learning concept and visually engaging. Samuel James who illustrates Elliot & Gina's stories is twenty-one years old and his work has already captured imaginations of many children studying English in China, Japan, Brazil, Turkey and beyond. After completing the interior design of Shanghai's c3 café, he is currently preparing for a design school in Japan where he plans to further his craft of combining colours with textures and continue to create many more stories about Elliot & Gina."
